Fly Wonderful Islands – El Hierro for FSX

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Inaugurated in 1972, the airport of El Hierro, located in the municipality of Valverde, has changed life on the island, improving communications with the rest of the archipelago and paving the way to a new type of tourism.

Air traffic is domestic, with the main origin/destination of flights being Tenerife Norte Airport and, to a lesser extent, the airports of Gran Canaria and La Palma.

In 2007, the airport processed 184,762 passengers, 4,790 operations and 171 tonnes of cargo.

History

The first aeronautical event on the island of El Hierro occurred on 12 December 1955 when a helicopter flew to the island, in what was also the first search and rescue operation in the Canary Islands, to airlift a sick person off the island.

Studies for the localisation of an airport began in 1962. Due to the complicated relief of the island, the options were limited and in the end an area on the coast was chosen, known as Llano de los Cangrejos, situated in the northeast of the island, close to its capital, Valverde.

This scene represents a realistic and complete representation of the airport and his environment: landclass, reliefs, the roads, ports, the cities, this scenery is the perfect for an unforgettable trip under the shadow of the volcanoes. Destination for yours Spring and Summer flights…

AERO FILES – AEROPLAYER

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

Using AeroPlayer is very simple. The first thing you have to do is to run the application, and create your own tracklist by going to the settings tab, and clicking the ‘choose’ button next to each of the text boxes.

You will notice that you have 10 tracks; this is because you only have 10 numbers on your keyboard (0-9), but never the less, that’s over approximately 30 minutes of music, like when playin a CD!

Once you have chosen your tracks; it’s recommended that if you have a printer, you print the tracklist, so you know which number to press for each track (although it’s optional).

Aeroplayer is a must have, because it saves you frame rates, compared when using other media players, such as Winamp, and Windows Media Player.

Aeroplayer is ideal for playing music as you soar the sky or as you play Ship Simulator 2008 or any other PC game for that mather.

AeroPlayer comes with a built in update checker.

To check for updates and download them, simply click

‘Check for Updates’ found at the welcome tab in the top right corner.

Aeroplayer is a media player which will continue evolving with many more features to come, these updates are free as long as it is for the same genneration of Flight Simulator, which currently is FSX, FS2004 goes as well as a free update.

Aeroplayer runs in the background of your games, so start Aeroplayer before you start playing your games.

You NEED Have Installed FSX Acceleration Pack +CAPTAIN SIM – XLOAD

F/A 18 Adventures for Microsoft FS X adds two campaigns to the FSX Acceleration Pack. With ten new missions to fly, you will deploy to Cold Lake Alberta and then to the Pacific to hone your tactical skills.

We explore two combat arenas: Alberta, Canada at Cold Lake, and north of Pearl Harbor in the Pacific. Cold Lake is the base for Canada’s 410 Cougar Squadron, an operational training squadron. It runs one fighter pilot course every year, training approximately 20 fighter pilots. The program consists of nine months of ground school, simulator flights and flying missions. Graduates are taken from the Fighter Lead-In Training Course and provides them with solid basic skills in both air-to-air and air-to-ground combat. Areas covered in depth include aircraft handling, instrument flight, formation flying, night flying, navigation, air-to-air refuelling, and weapons delivery and tactics.

410 Squadron also runs the annual Fighter Weapons Instructor Course (FWIC) and a Fighter Electronic Warfare and Advanced Radar (FEWAR) Course. Since 410 Squadron has always had some of the most experienced CF-18 pilots in the fighter community, it has become a recognized centre of excellence and is often charged with carrying out special fighter projects and leading the way for the remainder of the community. For these reasons, the internationally renowned Maple Flag Exercise is held on the range every year with every growing success.

AWACS and AAR

The Hornet is one of the most powerful multi-weapon air superiority platforms in the world, and is deployed by a variety of NATO countries. The aircraft carrier is the center piece for mobile strategic operations and provides armed forces the ability to project air power far beyond the horizon. The F/A-18 is a premier carrier based platform, projecting multi-weapon superiority to where it’s needed. We add radar to your Hornet, simulating the central system in air to air combat.

The second campaign in F/A 18 Adventures is based on a carrier north of Pearl Harbor. Eight nations are participating in Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2008, the world’s largest biennial maritime exercise. Conducted in the waters off Hawaii from June 26 through July 28, RIMPAC brings together military forces from Australia, Canada, Chile, Peru, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States. As one of the more promising Hornet pilots in 410 Squadron, you were invited to train with the US Navy.

Current offensive doctrine involves the use of multiple airborne assets, like the AWACS (Advanced Warning and Control System) aircraft as well as tanker aircraft enabling air to air refueling. Your training will involve these assets and more, including Ground Control Intercept. You have a lot to learn, but some great teachers.

B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber Crash Video & Technical Report

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

The crash on takeoff of a 509th Air Wing, Air Force B-2 Spirit bomber, February 23 operating at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, was caused by water in the aircraft’s sensors, according to an Air Combat report issued Thursday. Specifically, moisture in three port transducer units “distorted data introduced by a B-2 Spirit’s air data system” which led to flawed information entering the bomber’s flight control computers. The aircraft was reacting to inaccurate airspeed and a “perceived” negative angle of attack. This resulted in an “uncommanded 30 degree nose-high pitch-up on takeoff,” according to the Air Force.

MAAM-SIM TBF/TBM Avenger for FS9

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

MAAM-SIM Grumman/Eastern Aircraft TBF/TBM Avenger for FS2004. Add-on aircraft and scenery package for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004-Century of Flight.

There are five distinctly different aircraft models, in sixteen different liveries, from three nations. The different models vary in engine, flight dynamics, physical features, armament, instrument panels, virtual cockpits, etc.

“Extreme Photo-Realism”, digital photographic textures used in every gauge, panel, interior and exterior texture, is a technique we pioneered in FS with the release of the B-25J ‘Briefing Time’ at MAAM’s 12th Annual World War II Weekend.

It requires literally thousands of photographs, so it really helps to own the aircraft! You will see this technique refined even further in our depiction of MAAM’s TBM-3 #4 “Old Tanker 9″

Other Avengers in the package feature a combination of photo-real and “hand-drawn” textures by some of the best graphic artists in the FS business.

Digital stereo sounds were recorded from MAAM’s TBM, in flight and on the ground.
