Free Spitfire Trainer

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Shortly before he died, Alex Henshaw, the famous Spitfire test pilot and legendary aviator, took one last flight at the controls of a Spitfire. The machine in question was this one – a Mk9T painstakingly restored to flying status at Historic Flying Limited.

In 2005, whilst the restoration was in progress, Aeroplane Heaven were commissioned to produce a simulation of this aircraft, by HFL for training at their headquarters in England.. This is one of the development models from that series and we bring it to you today with our compliments.

Originally designed, of course, for FS2004, we have endeavoured to make it as compatible as possible with FSX, although one or two little anomalies may still exist.

The model includes many advanced features such as a detailed Merlin engine, fully functional,two-seat virtual cockpit and and was built using original plans supplied by Historic Flying Limited and the simulation was test flown in 2006 by their lead pilot.

X1 SOFTWARE – NORTHERN & ALASKA ADVENTURE

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Northern Adventures

adds 16 new missions flying in Alaska and Canada. The primary aircraft are the DHC-2 Beaver, the Cessna 208B Caravan, and the King Air 350. Missions include new scenery, voices, and new paint for the Beaver and Goose. Canadian locations include Tofino, Sandspit, the Queen Charlotte Islands, Prince Rupert and others. Mission types include search and rescue, transport, high country landing, and ferrying passengers. All types of weather are included, as well as emergency situations. On screen mission goal markers are available for most missions except Advanced missions.

Alaska Adventures

The primary aircraft is the DC-3, in both cargo and passenger varieties, on wheels and on skis. Bonus missions offer the Grumman Goose and the DHC-2 Beaver. 10 missions are flyable with the standard FS X version, and twelve with the Deluxe (Pro) version. Mission complexity has increased a notch with this release, with many more random variables and player choices. Moreover, failures are randomized and range from simple magneto or vacuum system problems to full blown oil pump or engine failure.

The Canadian West coast is renowned for its rugged beauty and variety of climate zones. We have added scenic detail around many locations. Air traffic control is limited in many coastal areas, and the remoteness of locations adds to the challenge.

Similarly, Alaskan scenery is rugged and beautiful. Missions include dusk and dawn flights in three different seasons to and from famous locations like Fairbanks, and Juneau and Skagway in the Klondike.

X1 SOFTWARE – Eurofighter EF2000

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

With two versions of the Eurofighter, including the single seat fighter and the tandem trainer, and the most detailed physical model yet seen on the PC, we are giving the hungry pilot everything he was hoping for.

An have a highly detailed, completely active cockpit including working radar set. Shut down your engines and open your canopy and the ladder appears. Launch your weapons and watch them speed outward. Climb into the rear seat, allowing two pilots to occupy the same aircraft online or via LAN.

We have animated features including flaperons, foreplanes, leading edge slats, the air braking system, living pilot, articulated landing gear and a drogue chute. We have heat blur, cockpit reflections, bump mapping and more. An authentic sound set completes the flying experience. The model is NOT a port.

New Scenery

To simulate the fighting environment we have added eight detailed military bases, including RAF Leeming, Boscombe Down, Coningsby, Rostock-Laage in Germany, Moron de la Frontera in Spain, Caselle in Italy and Rygge in Norway for good measure. Your Eurofighter comes in the liveries of five nations: Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Austria with a variety of squadrons represented for each nation. We even have a stealth “Blackbird” livery. By courtesy of Just Flight we also have an active Tornado and C130 at many bases.

Missions

And of course there are new missions to fly, in English and German, eighteen for the standard version and twenty for Acceleration. An in-flight cockpit tutorial leads you through the avionics systems. After you become acquainted with the Eurofighter, you will participate in active combat missions in Britain, as well as western and northern Europe. The rules of engagement are posted: are you ready for combat?

Eurofighter is compatible with the new ACCELERATION pack, and an in-flight refueling mission is included for owners of ACCELERATION. For those who have not yet made the upgrade to FS X, the Eurofighter is included in the same detail for FS 9, with six preprogrammed flights from major European military bases.
